Wichita, Kan. - This week in KCAC men's basketball, Friends travels to Bethany for the KGSO Thursday night game of the week. On Saturday, Sterling travels to McPherson for the Scoreboard Show Game of the Week. All 10 teams are in action this week.

KGSO 1410 AM Thursday Night Game of the Week: Friends (7-9, 4-2) at Bethany (6-8, 2-4)

Friends University

Last week: 1/5 def. McPherson 71-58; 1/3 L. vs. Sterling 87-75

Upcoming: Next 1/10 at Bethany 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 vs. Tabor 7:00 p.m.

The Falcons are coming off a 71-58 road victory against McPherson, and are currently tied for fourth in the league at 4-2. The victory against McPherson snapped a three game losing streak for Friends. Thomas Bland scored a season-high 20 points in last week's victory, shooting 8-13 from the free throw line and 2-3 from 3-pt, his second straight game scoring in double-figures.

Bethany

Last week: 1/5 L. at Saint Mary 80-79; 1/3 L. vs. Southwestern 76-63.

Upcoming: Next 1/10 vs. Friends 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 at Kansas Wesleyan 7:00 p.m.

Bethany opened conference play 2-0, but since then has dropped four consecutive games. The Swedes lost to Saint Mary last week 80-79, despite Sedrick Childress' 22 points, a season-high. Ray Purtle leads the team in scoring with more than 17 points per game in conference play, and is shooting 44% from 3-pt in conference games.

Sterling

Last week: 1/5 def. Kansas Wesleyan 99-91 (OT); 1/3 def. Friends 87-75

Sterling is currently on a five-game winning streak that has them in second place in the conference. The Warriors are averaging almost 78 points per game in conference play, which leads the KCAC. Guard Raheem Odomes has been on fire lately and has recorded a double-double in three straight games. The senior scored 33 points with 14 rebounds against Friends, and 30 points with 10 rebounds against Kansas Wesleyan in last week's games.

McPherson

Last week: 1/5 L. vs. Friends 71-58; 1/3 L. vs. Saint Mary 87-73

Upcoming: Next 1/10 at Kansas Wesleyan 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 vs. Sterling 7:00 p.m.

McPherson has struggled in conference play and is in the midst of a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs have averaged only 63 points per game in conference play, lowest in the KCAC. Guard Adam Bruner averaged 17 points per game last week, and recorded a double-double against Friends with 15 points and 10 rebounds, as well as 5 assists and only two turnovers.

Bethel (2-15, 0-6)

Bethel has lost three straight games, 12 of their last 13 games, and are giving up more than 85 points per game in conference play. Ronnie Hodge averaged 15.5 points per game last week for the Threshers, including scoring 17 against Ottawa.

Kansas Wesleyan (4-12, 1-5)

Last week: 1/5 L. at Sterling 99-91; 1/3 def. Bethel 90-74

Upcoming: Next 1/10 vs. McPherson 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 vs. Bethany 7:00 p.m.

Following a 10-game losing streak, Kansas Wesleyan has gone 2-2 in its last four games. The Coyotes are led by Canon Fields, who had a triple-double and a double-double last week. Fields finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the loss to Sterling. Fields had 36 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists against Bethel to help the Coyotes to their first conference win of the season.

Ottawa (7-9, 4-2)

Last week: 1/5 def. Bethel 87-61; 1/3 L. at Tabor 75-68

Upcoming: Next 1/10 vs. Southwestern 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 vs. Saint Mary 5:00 p.m.

Despite a 1-3 stretch in its last four games, Ottawa sports a 4-2 conference record and is tied for fourth in the standings. The Braves received plenty of scoring in their victory against Bethel as Corey Smith, Kameron Lindsay, and Chase Dippel all scored 17 points.

Saint Mary (11-5, 6-0)

Last week: 1/5 def. Bethany 80-79; 1/3 def. McPherson 87-73

Upcoming: Next 1/10 vs. Tabor 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 at Ottawa 5:00 p.m.

Saint Mary has won seven straight games and is undefeated in league play going into their game against Tabor. The Spires narrowly defeated Bethany 80-79 last week, and were led by five players scoring in double-figures. Shiron Williams led the team with 17 points, followed by JEB Greenberg's 16 points and 8 assists.

Southwestern (12-5, 3-3)

Last week: 1/5 L. at Tabor 80-70; 1/3 def. Bethany 76-63

Upcoming: Next 1/10 at Ottawa 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 vs. Bethel 7:00 p.m.

The Moundbuilders went 1-1 last week and were led by William Tisdale's 16.5 points per game. Cameron Clark finished with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Tabor, and leads the league in total rebounds with 155 in 17 games.

Tabor (6-9, 5-1)

Last week: 1/5 def. Ottawa 75-68; 1/3 def. Southwestern 80-70

Upcoming: Next 1/10 at Saint Mary 8:00 p.m.; 1/12 at Friends 7:00 p.m.

Tabor has recovered from their early season losing streak with five straight wins, and can climb into a tie for first in the league with a win against Saint Mary. Last week against Southwestern Ryan Chippeaux scored 20 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Robbie Samuel added 12 points and 6 rebounds.
