Wichita, Kan. - Thursday KCAC games move to Wednesday including Game of the Week featuring Ottawa at Friends. Saint Mary sits alone at the top of the KCAC, followed by Sterling and then Tabor. Week five marks the midpoint of the conference schedule.

KGSO 1410 AM Wednesday Night Game of the Week: Ottawa (7-11, 4-4) at Friends (8-10, 5-3)

Ottawa

Last week: 1/10 L. vs. Southwestern 96-92 (OT); 1/12 L. vs. Saint Mary 87-47

Upcoming: Next 1/16 at Friends 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 vs. Kansas Wesleyan 7:00 p.m.

Ottawa dropped both games last week to fall to 4-4 in the conference. Adam Hasty scored a team-high 19 points in the overtime loss to Southwestern. Hasty has scored in double-figures in four straight games, averaging 15 points per game in that span. Ottawa is 3rd in the conference in three-pointers made per game, as well as 3rd in defensive rebounds per game.

Friends

Last week: 1/10 def. Bethany 67-53; 1/12 L. vs. Tabor 71-67

Upcoming: Next 1/16 vs. Ottawa 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 vs. Southwestern 7:00 p.m.

The Falcons split its games last week, falling to Tabor after defeating Bethany. Anthony White scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Bethany to lead the team, while Zach Nelson put up 16 points and 9 rebounds. White is 3rd in the conference in rebounds per game with 8.6, and leads the conference in field goal percentage at .607. Friends gives up an average of 68 points per game, which is 2nd in the conference.

Kansas Wesleyan

Canon Fields has continued his . Fields scored 28 against Bethany, 15 against McPherson, and is averaging more than 24 points per game in conference play. The junior leads his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game. The Coyotes have the 3rd highest scoring offense per game in the conference, as well as the top free throw percentage and largest turnover margin.

Bethany (6-10, 2-6)

Bethany's losing streak grew to four games last week. Ray Purtle had 22 points in the team's narrow loss to Kansas Wesleyan. Dwight Abad scored 16 against Friends. Bethany still leads the conference in scoring defense, allowing less than 67 points per game.

Bethel (1-17, 0-8)

Last week: 1/10 L. at Sterling 86-70; 1/12 L. at Southwestern 99-87

Upcoming: Next 1/16 vs. McPherson 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 at Saint Mary 3:00 p.m.

Bethel continues to seek its first conference win and snap a five-game losing streak. Adam Arciniega had 24 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to Southwestern. Arciniega is averaging 21 points his last two games. Lee Griffin scored 22 against Southwestern, his third 20-point game of the season.

McPherson (7-12, 1-7)

Last week: 1/10 def. Kansas Wesleyan 73-66; 1/12 L. vs. Sterling 66-61

Upcoming: Next 1/16 at Bethel 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 vs. Bethany 7:00 p.m.

The Bulldogs picked up its first conference victory last week against Kansas Wesleyan, which broke a three-game losing streak. Darius Hill led the team in the victory with a double-double, 16 points and 15 rebounds. Mason Hewitt and Samson Shivers each added 18 in the victory.

Saint Mary (13-5, 8-0)

Last week: 1/10 def. Tabor 88-76; 1/12 def. Ottawa 87-47

Upcoming: Next 1/16 at Southwestern 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 vs. Bethel 3:00 p.m.

Saint Mary has not lost since November, and is coming off a 40-point victory over Ottawa last week. Chip Schneider scored 17 points with 9 rebounds against Ottawa, and had 21 in the team's victory against Tabor. Jordan Wilcox added 18 against Tabor.

Southwestern (14-5, 5-3)

Last week: 1/10 def. Ottawa 96-92 (OT); 1/12 def. Bethel 99-87

Upcoming: Next 1/16 vs. Saint Mary 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 at Friends 7:00 p.m.

Southwestern had two 20-point scorers in its victory over Bethel. Cameron Clark scored 24, and is averaging 21.3 points his last three games. Taylor Johnson also added 20 for the second straight game.

Sterling (13-6, 7-1)

Last week: 1/10 def. Bethel 86-70; 1/12 def. McPherson 66-61

Upcoming: Next 1/16 at Bethany 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 vs. Tabor 7:00 p.m.

Sterling has won seven straight games and moved into sole possession of second place in the conference last week. Raheem Odomes scored 18 points in the victory over McPherson, his 13th straight game scoring in double figures. Odomes is averaging 24.5 points in his last four games.

Tabor (7-10, 6-2)

Last week: 1/10 L. at Saint Mary 88-76; 1/12 def. Friends 71-67

Upcoming: Next 1/16 vs. Kansas Wesleyan 8:00 p.m.; 1/19 vs. Sterling 7:00 p.m.

Tabor missed its chance to climb into first in the conference with its loss to Saint Mary last week, but are still 6-2 and in third place. Ryan Chippeaux scored 15 points with 12 rebounds in the loss, and scored 15 points with 15 rebounds in the victory against Friends. Chippeaux has 8 double-doubles this season.
