KJCCC softball teams got the season underway big time on Saturday as they were competing in various tournaments deep in the heart of Texas.

To start with, No. 11 Butler in Division I took on a pair of Texas teams, defeating Ranger, Texas 10-2 in six before knocking off Division 2's No. 4 ranked LSU-Eunice 6-4 in the second game of the double header. Tomorrow, the two teams reverse the playing order against the Lady Grizzlies.

Independence recovered from Friday's heartbreaker loss to Western Texas in 10 innings by a 7-6 count and their loss to the University of Houston 2-1 to come back and sweep San Jacinto 2-1 and Galveston 7-2 on Saturday.

Seward County had split on Friday, and came back Saturday to split with those same two teams, beating Murray State out of Oklahoma 13-9 and losing to Odessa 8-3.

There is nothing better for the KJCCC in starting the season than to have a day like Saturday where they come away with 5 W's against 1 L against that kind of competition.
