Signing on Wednesday of Kansas High School football athletes to schools in the Division I category for football exceeded all expectations going into the season by Hovpen Sports for the class of 2013 with 19 athletes receiving scholarships for next season at that level.

In addition, at least three of our nation's top junior college schools, Butler, Hutchinson and Coffeyville placed another 15 athletes who graduated from Kansas High Schools at that level.

I would say without a doubt that would be a successful season for the state of Kansas.

While it remains to be seen if they will eventually be offered scholarships, several additional athletes received preferred walk on status at the two major universities in Kansas who play the sport of football and at least two we know of were grey shirted and should receive scholarships after the fall season.

In addition, a good number of athletes whom we feel could have played at the Division I level have opted to go to junior college in an effort to get better and improve their status and chances of getting to a higher level of ball.

Next season should be an even better year for high school signings looking at the junior class coming up.

Here is a listing of the athletes whom we know of and where they signed to play.
