February 12, 2013Wichita, Kan. - Eleven returning 2012 All-KCAC First team members adorn the 2012 -2013 Preseason All-KCAC Baseball Team. Highlighting the team are Art Corona (Tabor), Roeman Fields (Bethany), and Daniel Cloteaux (Sterling). KCAC Head Baseball Coaches voted all 16 players to the team unanimously.
Art Corona, 2012 ALL-KCAC First Team and KCAC Player of the Year, was chosen to the 2013 NAIA Preseason All-American team. In a year that Corona hit 0.436 and slugged 0.670 over 59 games, he also earned accolades as 2012 NAIA 2nd Team All-American.
Roemon Fields earned All-KCAC 1st Team and NAIA Honorable Mention All-American Honors by leading the conference in batting average (0.450) last season. Fields was also named and to the KCAC Gold Glove Team following a perfect fielding percentage in 2012. Along with Corona, Fields was selected 2013 Preseason All-American.
Daniel Cloteaux went 11-2 in 14 games with 87.2 innings pitched in 2012. His ERA (3.18) was third best in 2012, while he lead the conference in wins and innings per game (6.26). Cloteaux was selected 2012 All-KCAC First Team, 2012 KCAC Pitcher of the Year, and 2012 NAIA Honorable Mention All-American.
All returning ALL-KCAC First Team and Second Team 2012 performers were nominated for preseason honors. Head Baseball Coaches also had the opportunity to nominate other key members from their teams. The team (listed below) is made up of 11 seniors, two juniors, and three sophomores. Of the 16 athletes listed, six are from California and four are from Kansas.
