Winter Storm Pushes KCAC Basketball Championships to Tuesday

Wichita, Kan. - Championship games for the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tournaments have been moved to Tuesday, February 26th. Games will still take place at Hartman Arena, in Park City, Kansas and follow the original schedule with men playing first at 6 p.m., women at 8 p.m. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m.

The change comes due to the threat of winter storm Rocky, set to hit the Wichita/Park City area on Monday.

"We appreciate the flexibility of Hartman Arena, event partners, and our fans in accommodating the KCAC Basketball Championships move to Tuesday night" - stated Dr. Scott Crawford, KCAC Commissioner.

Men's Final (Bracket: Updated 2/23/13)

The KCAC Tournament #8 seed McPherson College (14-17, 6-12) travels to Park City to take on the Tournament #3 seed Sterling College (21-10, 13-5).

McPherson defeated #1 University of Saint Mary, 91-81 OT, in Leavenworth on Friday during the quarterfinals. They traveled to #4 Friends University on Saturday and defeated the Falcons, 81-80, with a last second shot. The Bulldogs head to Hartman for the third consecutive year.

Sterling defeated #6 Southwestern College, 98-79, in Sterling during the quarterfinal round. The Warriors then hosted #7 Ottawa University and defeated the Braves, 87-71, to advance to the KCAC Championship for the second time in three years.

During the Regular season Sterling defeated McPherson, 66-61, on January 12 in McPherson. The two met again on February 14 in Sterling with the Warriors coming away victorious, 79-70, over the Bulldogs

Women's Final (Bracket: Updated 2/23/13)

The KCAC Tournament #4 seed Kansas Wesleyan University (18-12, 11-7) travels to Park City to take on the Tournament #3 seed Southwestern College (22-7, 15-3).

Kansas Wesleyan defeated #5 Sterling College, 76-65, in Salina on Friday during the quarterfinals. They traveled to #1 Friends University on Saturday and defeated the Falcons, 66-49. The Coyotes last saw KCAC championship action in 2010-2011.

Southwestern defeated #6 McPherson College, 57-50, in Winfield during the quarterfinal round. The Moundbuilders then traveled to Hillsboro to take on #2 Tabor College. The Moundbuilders defeated the Bluejays, 57-46, to advance to the KCAC Championship for the third time in four years.

During the Regular season Southwestern defeated Kansas Wesleyan, 85-56, on December 1 in Winfield. The two met again on January 23 in Salina with the Coyotes winning, 70-64, over the Moundbuilders
