March 19, 2013 Division IIJessica Seay Cowley College 5'7" Freshman Pitcher Harrah, OK Jessica Seay continued her stellar freshman season by going 3-0 on the week. Seay ran her record to 11-0 by allowing only four runs in 18 innings pitched. The right-hander struck out 21 and did not walk a batter in three starts. Holy Wilmarth Highland Community College 5'8" Freshman Outfielder Maryville, MO Holly Wilmarth batted (.600) with five home runs and 12 runs batted in as she helped Highland Community College go 4-2 on the week. The Lady Scotties only losses came at the hands of Iowa Western, which is ranked No. 11 in the latest NJCAA Division I softball poll. Wilmarth added three doubles, two triples and scored 10 runs on the week Division I Caitlyn Coody Butler Community College 5'11" Freshman Outfielder Skiatook, OK Coody led Butler at the plate going 4 for 5 with three RBI's along with three stolen bases as the Lady Grizzlies went 2-3 for the week. Stephanie Mark Seward County Community College 5'7" Sophomore Infielder Ogden, UT Mark hit .450 for Seward this week in their annual spring break trip to the desert. The sophomore 1st baseman had three multi-hit games and hit in five of the Lady Saints six contests on the week. Tuesday against Glendale she was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI's and Wednesday in a split double header against Odessa and South Mountain she was 5 for 8 for Seward. Brittney Sharkey Seward County Community College 5'11" Sophomore Right-Handed Pitcher Riverside, CA Seward County sophomore Brittany Sharkey could not have been much better for the Lady Saints this week, posting a microscopic 0.33 ERA in 21 innings pitched, leading Seward to three wins. Sharkey's big week started on Tuesday against Glendale when she threw a complete game against the Gauchos, allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run to lead Seward to an 8-2 win. The next day she went up against a powerful Odessa team and silenced them to just 1 hit in a complete game shutout victory. Friday she was back at it again, spinning a three hit shutout against Chandler-Gilbert in a 3-0 Seward County victory. Opponents hit just .118 off of Sharkey on the week and she did not allow a single walk in 21 innings of work. |
