Lehman, Hankerson, and Juarez Selected KCAC Football Players of the Week
Wichita, Kan. - Kris Lehman (Sr., Smith Center, Kan.) of Sterling College earns Defensive Player of the Week. Thomas Hankerson (Jr., Boynton Beach, Fla.) from Friends University is named Offensive Player of the Week. Eddie Juarez (Fr., Pleasant Hill, Calif.) of Sterling College is named Special Teams Player of the Week. Lehman, Hankerson, and Juarez were selected for their performances on September 28 by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors.
Lehman, a 5-10, 225 lb. Linebacker, recorded 16 tackles (seven unassisted) in a 46-45 overtime win against #8 Tabor. Lehman recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble in the winning effort. In total, Sterling forced five turnovers in the game.
Hankerson, a 5-7, 185 lb. Running Back, ran for 268 yards and three touchdowns for the Falcons against the Southwestern Moundbuilders on Saturday evening. In the 36-30 Falcon win, Hankerson rushed 34 times averaging 7.9 yards per carry. Hankerson's 268 yards against Southwestern is the highest single game rushing total in the NAIA.
Juarez, a 5-7, 170 lb. Kicker/Punter, was perfect on scoring tries for Sterling as they defeated #8 Tabor on Saturday. Juarez made five of five point after touchdowns along with a 36-yard field goal. Juarez totaled 328 yards punting and pinned the Bluejays within their own 20 on three of eight punts.
All KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors.

Tabor Invite Produces KCAC Runners of the Week
Wichita, Kan. - Aspen Frey (Sr., Newton, Kan.) of McPherson College and Joel Allen (Jr., Hillsboro, Kan.) of Tabor College have been named Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Runners of the Week. They were nominated for their performances at the Tabor College Invitational on Saturday, September 28.
Frey earns her second Runner of the Week award with a win at the Tabor College Invitational. Her time was 19:38.88, she averaged 6:19.50 per mile. In a race that featured 60 runners from KCAC schools and surrounding junior colleges, her first place points paced the Bulldogs to a team first place finish .She finished four seconds ahead of second place.
Allen ran a 26:28.60, averaging a 5:19.6 mile, to win the Tabor College Invitational. Allen defeated 70 runners,from KCAC schools and area junior colleges, finishing 27 seconds faster than the second place finisher. His first place points helped the Bluejays take home the team first place finish.
All KCAC Runner of the Week nominees will also be nominated for NAIA National Runner of the Week honors, which will be announced later this week.

KCAC Volleyball and Soccer Players of the Week: September 23rd - 29th
Coyotes Sweep Volleyball Player of the Week Awards
Wichita, Kan - Player of the Week and Setter of the Week honors go to Taylor Elkington (Jr., Wichita, Kan.) of Kansas Wesleyan University. Elkington's Teammates Marlene Yang (Sr., Kansas City, Kan.) and Lauren Chamness (Sr., Littleton, Colo.) have been selected Libero and Hitter of the Week. Elkington, Yang, and Chamness were selected for their performances during September 23-29 by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors.
Elkington, a 5-7 Setter, totaled 81 assists in seven games this week as Kansas Wesleyan defeated conference opponents Tabor College (3-0) and Friends (3-1). Against Tabor, Elkington averaged 10 assists per game and recorded six digs and two block assists. She followed that performance with a 12.75 assist average against Friends. Elkington added three block assists and twenty digs in the winning effort. Elkington was also selected Setter of the Week during Week 1.
Yang, a 5-0 Defensive Specialist, averaged 6.43 digs per set against Friends and Tabor this week. She had a 0.929 Service Percentage, 0.967 Passing percentage, and a 0.957 Reception Percentage this week.
Chamness, a 5-10 Outside Hitter, finished the week with 26 kills on 67 attempts in KWU's two conference victories. Chamness added seven digs, five block assists, and three services aces to her stat sheet. Chamness led all players in kills during the 3-1 victory at Friends, with 19.
The play of Elkington, Yang, and Chamness keep the Coyotes undefeated in conference play. KWU ended Friends' 10-game winning streak and may have ended Tabor's chances of reaching the Top 25. Kansas Wesleyan is now 14-9 on the season, 6-0 in the KCAC.

Torres and Mutio Named KCAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week
Wichita, Kan. - Nick Torres (Fr., McPherson, Kan.) of McPherson College and Ian Mutio (Jr., London, England) of Southwestern College have been named as KCAC Offensive and Defensive Men's Soccer Players of the Week. The student-athletes were selected for their performances during September 23-29 by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors.
Torres a 5-8, Forward, totaled five points in McPherson's only game of the week, scoring two goals and recording an assist in a win over Central Christian. With eight points on the season, the freshman is second on the Bulldogs and tied for 10th in the conference in points per game, averaging a point a game. His three goals on the season put him tied for eighth best in the conference, and his 23 shots, 2.88 per game, put him in seventh overall in the KCAC.
Mutio a 6-0, Goalkeeper, made eight saves to record his fourth shutout of the season in a 2-0 win over Manhattan Christian. As goalie for the Moundbuilders, Mutio leads the conference in shutouts with four, is first in goals against average at 1.10, and ranks third in saves per game with 34 totals saves, averaging 4.86 per game. On the season, Mutio has a .829 save percentage.
Each week conference Sports Information Directors nominate and vote on the defensive and offensive player of the week. Both KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors, which will be announced later this week.

Braves Earn KCAC Women's Soccer Players of the Week Honors
Wichita, Kan. - Morgan Trupp (So., Tecumseh, Kan.) earns KCAC Offensive Player of the Week and Samantha Gitmed (Fr., Chino Hills, Calif.) is awarded Defensive Player of the Week. The Ottawa University student-athletes were selected for their performances during September 23-29 by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors.
Trupp, a 5-4, forward, scored Ottawa's goal in their 1-1 double overtime tie against #25 Baker, scoring on a shot from 20 yards out. On the season, Trupp is tied for seventh in the conference in points with 7.0, averaging 0.88 per game, having recorded two goals and three assists in eight games, and her three assists put her tied for first in the KCAC.
Gitmed, a 5-8, goalkeeper, played 110 minutes in goal and made five saves (including three in overtime) to force a tie with #25 Baker. She is seventh overall in the conference with 24 saves on the season, averaging 4.00 per game. She ranks second in goals against average at 1.53, and ranks second in shutouts with 2.00.
The KCAC Players of the Week will also be nominated for NAIA National Player of the Week honors, which will be announced later this week.
