ALLEN REPEATS AS JAYHAWK CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the second-straight week, Hutchinson Community College freshman Kadeem Allen was named the Jayhawk Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
This marks the third-straight week and fourth time this season that a Blue Dragon has earned the weekly Jayhawk Conference honor for men's basketball.
Allen, a 6-foot-3 guard from Wilmington, N.C., proved clutch in two No. 4 victories over talented Northeast Nebraska and Hill College teams over the weekend. Allen averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists, shooting 53.6 percent from the floor.
Against, Northeast Nebraska, Allen scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half, hitting several big baskets and free throws down the stretch for the Blue Dragons earned a four-point victory.
One night later, Allen scored a career-high 25 points and had 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals for his first career double-double as the Blue Dragons surged late to defeat Hill College 76-69. Allen hit four crucial free throws in the final minute of the game to seal the victory.
Allen becomes eligible to win national player of the week honors from the NJCAA. That will be announced on Wednesday.
