Bethany looks for new coach

Lindsborg, Kan. - Bethany College Head Football Coach Jamie Cruce has announced his resignation.

"We thank Coach Cruce for over 10 years of service to Bethany College. We wish him well as he begins the next chapter of his career," says Interim Athletic Director Scott McClure.

Current Defensive Coordinator Nick Taylor will serve as interim head coach. The search for a permanent replacement will begin immediately. "We strive for a seamless transition for our current and incoming student-athletes as we find Coach Cruce's successor," says McClure.

Cruce, a 1998 alumnus, returned to Bethany in 2001 as defensive coordinator. He became head coach in 2007. He has previously served as the linebackers coach at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., where he also earned his master's degree in physical education, and as the linebackers coach and strength and conditioning coordinator at Anderson University in Anderson, Ind.

In the past 34 years, Swedes football has finished 21 seasons ranked in the top 25 NAIA or NAIA-II teams, along with winning 16 conference championships.
