Wade earns second NJCAA Honor

Hutchinson Community College outside hitter Teresa Wade became only the third Lady Dragon volleyball player in program history to earn multiple NJCAA All-America honors on Thursday.

With the release of the 2013 NJCAA All-America Volleyball teams, Wade earned Division I honorable mention honors.

Wade joins Mariana Blum and Ludmila Amaral as the only two-time Lady Dragon All-Americans. Wade earned second-team All-America honors last season. Blum was a two-time first-team All-American and Amaral earned second-team and first-team honors.

Wade's selection to the 2013 All-America team is the 11th in Hutchinson volleyball history.

The 5-foot-10 outside hitter from St. John, Kan., completed a spectacular career by leading the 2013 Lady Dragons to a second-straight Jayhawk West title, second-straight Region VI crown and back-to-back trips to the NJCAA National Tournament.

Named Jayhawk West Player of the Year for the second-straight year, Wade firmly entrenched herself in the Lady Dragon volleyball record books. She was part of only the fourth sophomore class who played in the national tournament in both seasons at Hutchinson.

This season Wade has amassed 482 kills in 138 sets played (3.49 kills per set) while hitting .230. She posted 19 double-doubles this season and had four matches of 20 kills or more. She was named the Jayhawk West Player of the Week twice this season.

Wade was second on the team in digs this season with 409 and is averaged 2.96 per set. She is also averaged 0.30 blocks and 0.07 service aces per set.

During the Region VI Tournament, Wade averaged 4.57 kills per set and hit .302. She also averaged 3.07 digs per set.

Wade's 482 kills this season were the third most in team history. Her 3.49 kills per set ranked fourth best for a season. Her 1,416 attacks were the second-most swings taken individually.

For her career, Wade will finish at No. 2 in career kills at Hutchinson with 896. She was fifth in career kills per set (3.25) and 10th in career digs (749).

Wade has six career matches of 20 or more kills and 31 career double-doubles, which ranks sixth all time and second among non-setters. Wade earned KJCCC Weekly Player honors five times in her career.
