Bishop Carroll and Clearwater were the big winners on Thursday night at TRYC in Wichita softball play.
Carroll took on Maize, winning game one 8-6 and then shortening game two via an 11-1 run rule over the Eagles of Maize.
Oklahoma State bound Jessi Haffner got the win in the first game, although she had some trouble with walks followed by giving up a home run ball to Glaczak. Hunter Hogan and Morgan Balderas each hit one out for Carroll.
Oklahoma commitment Brittany Finney got the win in the run rule, striking out eight in five innings while giving up one lone run. Carroll used the long bomb three times, two by freshman third baseman Madison Miller, one a solo and the other a three run job and Balderas also hit another three run job giving her two for the night.
On the other diamond, Clearwater was taking a pair from East and Winfield, beating the Vikings 14-12 in their game. Winfield defeated East 20-0 in the first game. Clearwater vs East score was not available.
Other action saw Goddard taking a pair from Hutchinson to remain unbeaten on the season 15-11 and 11-6. Wichita Northwest defeated Derby 9-3 and 7-4 while Medicine Lodge took down Chaparral 9-5 and 5-3.
We are still looking for several game scores from last week.
Several more teams open the season on Friday but we hope to be at baseball when Blue Valley West, the No. 1 preseason team in Kansas and nationally ranked comes to Maize for a double header with the Eagles and Maize South.
