Nine from KS honored

The NFCA All-American South Central Region Teams have been announced and while you have to be a member and nominate to belong, Kansas is well represented in a region which includes Texas and Oklahoma-or including two of the hot spots of softball in the country.

A total of five young ladies from Kansas were represented on the first team and four were selected on the second team.

While some of the best players in Kansas were noticeably absent (say the two pitchers from Bishop Carroll) the girls selected represent the state well and will be playing at the highest level come their college careers.

Making first team, and the state of Kansas totally dominated in the catching position, were Maddie McCracken and Reagan Hathaway out of the two Olathe Schools, North and Northwest respectively along with pitcher Allison Stewart out of Olathe East. Washburn Rural who won Class 6A in Kansas this season place pitcher Kelsee Henry and third baseman Savannah Moore on the first team.

Second team picks were another catcher, Jenny Metzger from Washburn Rural and pitcher Hailey Reed from Seaman. Emily Griggs out of Maize was selected as an outfielder and Washburn Rural's Madison Roth was selected as a utility player.

Of the seven states represented in the region, Texas had 17 selections to the organizations two teams while Kansas was second with nine.
